E.C. Lawton is the author of The Zoe Eferhild Chronicles, which is her completed debut series. She writes books with strong mental health themes in the genres of fantasy, science fiction, and contemporary romance. A six-book series is releasing in 2027. E.C. is also a psychology adjunct professor and clinical therapist. Living through the pandemic stationed in Asia Pacific had many challenges, the least of which was remote schooling. Helping my then 3rd grader learn to get her thoughts out before she forgot them with zero typing skills reminded me how much I have always loved story telling. I sat down one day and opened a blank document. It was terrible. No, really. I saved it to remind myself just how bad. The second blank document was better, and eventually became my debut novel, Salty. That book became a 4 book series, now with a prequel novella and full length bonus novel. I was lucky to find my tribe of friends within the community, and they inspired me to use the “best of mil spouse” stories we’ve all heard versions of and write my own military romance series, with the focus more on what the life of a military family can look like over the dramatic hero worship many lean into. The Devoted Brothers trilogy was born during an international PCS with 4 kids and a new puppy, and again writing saved my sanity during a difficult transition. The result is the elusive found family I wish for all our families… though maybe with fewer devious subplots in real life. We are still overseas, and I am still writing. Hopefully, I’m doing my community proud.
