Melissa Ivanco-Murray

Melissa Ivanco Army

Science Fiction & Fantasy

I’m a mom, veteran, artist, folklorist, musician, and writer of folklore-inspired adult romantasy and YA portal fantasy (and the occasional academic article). After graduating from West Point and serving in the Army for ten years as a Military Police officer, I earned a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Virginia. My doctoral dissertation explored narratives of historical warrior women among the Scythians, Slavs, and other Eurasian steppe nomads, who in turn have inspired my fiction writing. I have contributed several articles to academic publications in addition to my current and upcoming novels. When I’m not writing, I can be found racing triathlons, chasing after my son, or providing lead guitar and vocals for the underground metal band Olga's Burning Sparrows.

J.M. Zamudio

Jessica Zamudio Navy

Romance

J.M. Zamudio is a U.S. Navy veteran and historical romance author with a bachelor’s degree in English from American Military University. She writes slow-burn Regency romances filled with angst, action, pining, and passion. Her stories explore trauma, redemption, complex family relationships, self-forgiveness, and the healing power of love. When she isn’t writing, J.M. Zamudio enjoys baking bread, bantering with her husband, and walking her two Australian Shepherds—upon their most ardent request.

Beverley Anderson

Education & Teaching

I am Beverley Anderson, a military spouse, storyteller, researcher, and author who understands firsthand that military life is about much more than uniforms, orders, deployments, and PCS moves. It’s about the families who navigate those experiences alongside their service members and the challenges, transitions, opportunities, and unexpected moments that come with military life. As a military spouse of almost 20 years, I’ve experienced many of those transitions myself. Along the way, I’ve also had the privilege of serving in SFRG leadership and volunteer roles, supporting military families and learning just how valuable the right information can be when you’re trying to navigate a world that sometimes feels like it has its own language. Writing has always been one of my favorite ways to connect with people. I love taking information that can seem complicated or overwhelming and turning it into something practical, relatable, and easy to understand. My goal isn't simply to tell you what something is - I want to help you understand what to expect, what questions to ask, and where to turn for help. That passion inspired my books, including Military Permanent Change of Duty Station (PCS): A Moving Guide, Military Family Benefits and Entitlements Handbook, and New Military Spouse Handbook: Welcome to the Military. Each was created to provide military families with practical information and guidance they can turn to throughout their journey. I’m especially passionate about helping new military spouses and families feel prepared rather than overwhelmed. Whether you're navigating your first PCS, trying to understand military benefits, or wondering what you've gotten yourself into as a new military spouse, I hope my books make the journey a little easier. I'm continually researching, learning, writing, and developing new resources based on the questions military families are asking and the information they need most. Ultimately, my goal is simple: to share what I've learned, make the complicated a little easier, and help military families feel more prepared, confident, and less alone. Because sometimes the best person to help you navigate the road ahead is someone who has already traveled it.
