How would you describe yourself as an author?
"I am an indie author who spends most of my free time outside of my day job writing, editing, and sharing my books! One of the best things about being an author is the connections I have made with readers, other authors, and other milspouse small business owners. We all work together to lift each other up, and it makes the process of writing and publishing so much more fun."
What's the primary genre you write in?
"Cozy Fantasy Romance."
What's your writing experience?
"4-5 years professionally (but much longer if you count all the half-finished stories written since elementary school.)"

How has being a military spouse influenced your writing or author journey?
"I don't know if I would have ever published any books if I wasn't a military spouse. When my husband joined the military, we moved to a new state and I had to leave my career of seven years. With a break in employment, I wrote my first book! The support from the milspouse community has been phenomenal, and that support encourages me to keep going on the tough days."
What's one challenge you've faced as a military spouse author and how did you overcome it?
"We recently did a 'short tour' where my spouse went overseas unaccompanied for a year. This was tough but we kept up great communication and I focused on my writing goals to help pass the time and keep moving forward."
Do you have any advice for fellow Military Spouse writers?
"You have a story to tell! No one can write it but you. Just start writing and get that first draft done. You can edit it into perfection later."
What's a fun fact about you?
Heather's background as a biology teacher influences her work: "I used to teach biology and so my books often have some science or nature bits in them. It's so fun to incorporate things from our natural world into fantasy systems!"
